Mental Health Gains, But Substance Abuse Still a Monster The latest report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) presents a mixed picture of progress and challenges in youth mental health and substance use metrics between 2021 and 2025.
The data shows significant declines in adolescent use of tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, and binge drinking, as well as illicit drug use, starting drinking or vaping habits, and substance related disorders.
The trend is particularly heartening given the uncertainty surrounding the future of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health last year.
